NEWZSEZ

We are just returing from our first two Action ski + board trips. Both in different parts of Utah. Tons of snow and fun — some wind and zero visibility, too, but that's skiing — never predictable, except for the chili + beer in the lodge if you need to warm up, dry off or just chill. See Action Chronicles below, for all stories and pix of our trips and events.

We have a few ski trip openings to note. This weekend the Mammoth Superbowl trip has an opening for 1 FEMALE. Contact Roger Hiltpold: prez@actionski.org, ASAP. Also an opening for 1 MALE on the Whistler trip starting March 9. Contact Jacqueline Ehlertjackie@wisegourmet.com.

TONIGHT we have Action's monthly General Meeting + Happy Hour @ Arterra 5:30- 7:30. More info below

This month, the Action Board is starting to focus on non-snow events. A few things we have lined up for you besides the annual Action End of Year Party, July 13th, we have a day of Yoga @ Rady Shell + Farmers Market, April 27th, hosted by Jackie Ehlert, and a Potluck hosted by Action member Linda Katzman, May 18th. We are looking at a visit to a winery in Hidden Valley, maybe in June, and returning, a super fun weekend at Mammoth Bluesapalooza, a beer tasting and music festival + more, like hiking, boating and maybe there will still be snow like last year. See Upcoming Events section below, and as always, keep checking our Events Calendar at Action's website — Check it out here!

Looking forward to seeing you in the snow or in the sun!

Little Gems of Utah Ski Trip

Little Gems is an understatement.  Powder Mountain is exactly what it sounds like, a mountain of never ending powder.   Snow Basin is the gold standard of ski resorts with the gold chandeliers and bathroom fixtures, with long runs and plenty of mountain to play on.

We arrived in Eden, Utah to our very isolated condos with no night life or restaurants, so cooking your own meals was the order of the day. And we have lots of great chefs in this club.  We did have a catered dinner and a left-overs happy hour to which everyone contributed.

Skiing/snowboarding was what we were there for and we got a lot of that.  Many of us were treated to extended private mountain tours by York, a delightful, entertaining, and knowledgeable guide.  Since we had a private shuttle to and from the two resorts , we experienced long days on the mountains, with plenty of shared lunches and late afternoon happy hours.

The trip ran fairly smooth until we were to leave Snow Basin.  Our bus driver got mixed up and went to the condos to pick up our luggage first instead of picking up the group.  That made for some stressful times when we needed to get to the airport in time to check-in.  But we made it with time to buy a quick dinner before boarding.

My thanks to Cynthia for all the detailed information she put together for our trip, and thanks to my partner-in-crime Deb.  Most of all, thanks to the group for making this trip easy to lead.
