NEWSLETTER | October 2023 |
Greetings Action Members and Friends,
I’m happy to announce that the Action Board has new volunteers to help us get to the next level of Ski Club Life! Teresa Rhoan-Dvorak will be stepping into the role of Marketing Director, while Jessica Youngs will be leading the Ski Council Representative role. Please check for Ski Council Events in this Action Newsletter. A huge thank you goes out to Rick Cole, for his selfless energy and dedication in having been Action’s Ski Council Rep for the past 15 years. Your service to Action will not be forgotten, and we’re happy to hear that you will be sticking around!
As we head into the holiday season, Action Ski Club will be hosting a few Holiday-themed events that typically sell out: Action’s Sushi Boat Parade of Lights on December 10th, and Lamb’s Respectfully Christmas play in Coronado on December 14th.
2024 will be an exciting Ski year for Action Ski Club, as we enjoy six ski trips that are on our events calendar. Please also check out our upcoming holiday and non-ski events at ActionSki.org and we look forward to spreading the Action fun with you through the holiday season and beyond.
Thank you for being a fantastic Actioneer!
See you on the slopes!
Roger

Ski Copper Mountain and A-Basin! We'll stay in a big house, center of town, close to bus line, restaurants and shopping! | | | KAYAKING LA JOLLA COVE
On Sunday September 10, eight of us Actioneers met for a totally fun kayak adventure exploring the La Jolla caves. We met at 8:30 in La Jolla Shores to rent our kayaks, then set out from the beach for a leisurely paddle across to the caves. Arriving early is the best way to go as the crowds were minimal, allowing us to explore the caves with only a handful of other kayakers. Luckily, no one capsized this time (it can happen!), and everyone had a wonderful time. Hope to see you next time!
| GUADALUPE VALLEY WINE TRIP
On Saturday, October 7th our trips leader Leah Clark took a group of Actioneers and others to the Valle de Guadalupe for an unforgettable day of wine and food. Our trip south across the border went flawlessly, and we enjoyed mimosas, pastries, and fruit and cheese skewers on our way down the coast. At about 10:30 we arrived at our first stop, Vinos LT, which was beautiful! There were vines on the premises which served as the background for lots of photos! Soon enough the paella was served, along with red and white wine, and beer from Wendland brewery in Ensenada.
At our second stop we were greeted by the staff at Corona del Valle and split into two groups. One group went into the winery where we tasted two wines and heard about the history of the winery. The other group went on a tractor-pulled-wagon through the vineyards where the other two wines were served against a backdrop of vines and the hillsides surrounding the Valle.
At Cava Maciel, our third stop, we enjoyed a four-wine tasting and delicious snacks of ceviche, tacos, and local cheeses before heading off to our last stop at the Italian restaurant Tre Galline. The meal there was amazing!
Finally, around 8pm, we loaded up the bus for our final push back to San Diego. A long but wonderful day!
