New Orleans Cocktails and Cuisine Virtual Cooking Class

New Orleans Cocktails and Cuisine virtual Cooking Class

Action chefs will lead you through creation of classic New Orleans cocktails and traditional cuisine to celebrate Mardi Gras before "Fat Tuesday" marks the end of the feasting season and start of fasting

There is no charge for this event.  It is basically a President's Day Happy Hour with a Mardi Gras theme, since the following day is Fat Tuesday!

Feel free to pop in to visit with Action Friends anytime from 4:30-6:00.  You do not need to cook-a-long to attend.  Join as an observer, as Action "chefs" present some fun facts about Mardi Gras, New Orleans' famous (and infamous!) cocktails and creole/cajun dishes (where does the trinity come from anyway, and what is Andouille?!), and do a cooking demonstration.

A few days prior to the event all registrants will be sent the list of ingredients for the cocktails/cuisine, and pre-event preparation instructions. Feel free to join in making cocktails only, food only, both or neither!  It's all just for fun-don't expect a serious cooking class-the chefs certainly don't plan to take this too seriously!

You'll be sent the Zoom link for the event within 24 hours prior to event start.

You'll learn how to make two of the most famous New Orleans cocktails: The Sazerac, one of the world's first cocktails, created in New Orleans in the 1830's by M. Antoine Peychaud, an apothecarian in the French Quarter; and The French 75, which dates back to Word War I and was inspired in France (it is named after the French 75mm field guns), but made famous at Arnaud's Restaurant in the heart of the French Quarter, which even named the restaurant bar after the famous cocktail!

And to soak up a little of the alcohol from those cocktails you'll be led through creation of classic Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo accompanied by red beans and rice
