Action Ski and Board Club Board committed to giving YOU the best year ever!

A Huge Thank You!
Action Ski and Snowboard members were were no Ebenezers this year. We filled three big Promises2Kids donation boxes at our November and December meetings with hundreds of
toys and clothes.
We made Christmas brighter for a lot of foster kids.
Actioneers...thanks so much for your generosity!

PAINT SPLASH

Leah Clark hosted a Paint like (Jackson) Pollack paint and wine party in December. Looking at the photos it looks like it was a splash—or smashed!

ASPEN TRIP WITH SAN DIEGO COUNCIL OF SKI CLUBS

Action went to Aspen on the San Diego Council of Ski Club’s annual December trip. We stayed at the Gant, as usual, enjoying their on-call shuttle and great service.

Unfortunately, the snow conditions were the worst since 1976, according to locals. However, the snow making ability of Ajax (Aspen Mountain) almost made up for the lack of natural snow---So lots of us skied--best snow was between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Snowmass only had beginner runs open.  However, they also had a luge run that many folk had a blast trying out.

There were about a half dozen folk who had planned not to ski, even if the snow was good - they view Aspen as a regular vacation, rather then a ski vacation, with plenty of shopping, spas, and social activities.    On different nights we danced at the St. Regis, Happy Hour’ed at the Hotel Jerome’s and pub crawled to several local bars.  The trip ended with a hosted martini party at the Sanford’s condo.

Several of us took advantage of the lovely weather and went hiking up the Hunter Creek trail between Red and Smugglers Mountain.  We certainly didn’t expect to go hiking on a ski trip to Aspen, but we certainly enjoyed the experience of hiking along a beautiful ice and snow covered creek among the multimillion dollar Aspen homes that had their own personal trails leading to the creek hike.  Although hopeful, we didn’t see any recognizable movie stars or celebrities out for a hike.

Timing is everything...Aspen received lots of snow after we left.  But we would have appreciated more snow we all still enjoyed the skiing and social experience of the Council trip while we were there.
